4. What do you think is the
most important issue in this election?
Dear Election Central 2008,
I am emailing to respond to question number 4; what is the most
important issue in this election. The most important issue in the
2008 election is abortion. Ever since the decision in the Roe v.
Wade case this has been a very controversial topic. Each candidate
has a side on abortion and I know that it will certainly be
playing a big role in which candidates i vote for at every level
but especially for president.
Abortion
is taking countless numbers of lives before they are even
able to start. When a baby is aborted that is a life that is not
able to come into this world. Certain cases should justify a
mother making the decision such as rape, incest, a mother that is
too young, or if the mother is at risk because of the
pregnancy. But for the cases that don't meet the above criteria it
is 100% wrong and shouldn't be legal. It is a woman's
responsibility to protect herself against pregnancy if she doesn't
have the desire to be pregnant. The only way to be sure of that is
to remain abstinent and every woman that has sexual intercourse is
at risk of pregnancy and they should know that. So by engaging in
such acts the woman is accepting the risk of pregnancy whether
they like it or not. it is not fair to then let them turn around
and bail out of a pregnancy because of their poor decisions. It is
wrong and can't be justified except in extreme cases.
Thank You,
Steve B.
The
most important issue in this election is the controversy over
immigration. Many people are disputing over the fate of the
currently residing illegal immigrants in the United States and
what should be done to reduce the number of illegal immigrants
altogether. In my opinion, amnesty should not be given to each and
every illegal immigrant in this country as that would attract even
more immigrants in the hopes of receiving amnesty. However, I do
not believe that all of the illegal immigrants should be rounded
up and sent back to their original countries. I think a process
and limit should be established on how many and who should be
given amnesty and who ought to be sent back to their countries.
Also, although building a wall does not appear to be the
best method to keep illegal immigrants out of the country, when
looking at statistics of lower crime and drug trafficking rates,
it seems one of the most effective options available at this time.

I believe that the
issue of abortion is the most important issue for this election. I
don’t understand how individuals can be opposed of Capitol
Punishment but for abortion; it’s hypocrisy. Capitol punishment
deals with killing absolutely sick and disgusting individuals that
have committed serious crimes and have endangered the safety and
security of our people. Abortion is being used as a birth control;
killing pure and innocent children because the parents are being
irresponsible.
How is it that
killing a murderer is obscene, but preventing a child from life and
liberty, is not? The term pro-choice is just an excuse for saying
“anti-consequence.” The individuals that believe that abortion is
acceptable are stating that a woman should have the right to
“choose”. If this is the reason why abortion is “acceptable”
then why is prostitution illegal? It’s the woman’s body isn’t
it? Shouldn’t she get to “choose” what she wants to do with it?
Also, why is there a law against illegal drugs? Is it not our right to
“choose” what goes into our bodies? In addition, why is there a
law against suicide? Shouldn’t we have the right to “choose”
whether we want to live or die?
Now, the reason we
are restricted from making all these choices, is because it endangers
our lives. Now the remaining questions are: whose life is more
valuable, a child or an adult? Who should have the right to choose if
a child should live or not? It is not the parent’s life, so why
should they be given that right? The only exception to abortion would
be in cases of rape or incest or if the mother’s life is at risk;
other than that it is clearly unacceptable and evil. In closing, any
candidate that is “accepting” of this child slaughter really needs
to re-evaluate themselves and think about why they should be
president. A president should be a person of principle; a pro-choice
candidate is just not that and will not be given my vote.
Sincerely,
Tiffany
The most important issue in this
presidential 2008 election is immigration. This is the most
important because it is a huge issue to everyone. Everyone has their own
opinion on the matter. Also, each presidential candidate has their own
solution to fix the immigration problem. Which ever solution fits that
of the voters is how the candidate will win. The outcome of this
election will solely depend on the candidates views on immigration. The
voters will vote on the candidate that they think will do the best job
dealing with the immigration issue.
If the candidates target that issue they could gain much support in the
crowd if their views apply to them. Immigration is a big issue because
their is the matter of the jobs and the economy at stake. Jobs and
economy affect everybody. Also, if they focus on the majority
crowd, they will gain the most support. This is why the 2008
presidential election will center around this issue.

The
most important issue relating to the 2008 presidential election, in
my mind, is the issue surrounding Global Warming. Global Warming is
greatly going to effect today's youth as they become adults.
Although the issue isn't spoken of much among the presidential
candidates, I believe the issue should be addressed more. Once the
"facts" of Global Warming are set out on the table, and
more of today's youth realizes that the issue is going to effect
them once they're adults, I believe this election will see a massive
turnout of young voters casting their vote.
Global Warming is also an issue
that presidential candidates should realize that they could
capitalize on to gain the attention of younger voters. The
candidates could shift their aim to the 18-25 year old voters who,
for the most part, don't care about who becomes president or not. If
a candidate solely focused on the issue of Global Warming, along
with a few other issues, such as Social Security and other issues
that are going to effect youths becoming adults, more of today's
youth would realize what is actually going to effect them when
they're older. This is good news for the candidate capitalizing on
focusing on issues regarding today's youth because they will be the
ones getting more votes.

The most important issue in
the 2008 election is the war in Iraq. Most American citizens have a
strong opinion on the issue. Either a person supports the war in Iraq
and wants to continue the surge or people want our troops to come home
and end the war. There is no gray area. The main reason that the
American people oppose Bush is because of his choices in the war.
According to a recent poll 60% of Americans oppose the war in Iraq, but
that does not mean that a we candidate will not propose a new option.
Bush cannot run for President again, so new faces will appear, and with
them new ideas. This makes the war in Iraq the most important issue in
the 2008 Presidential election.
